INTRODUCTION
 OVL
has 20% Interest in offshore Block A-1 of Myanmar . The other consortium
partners are Daewoo 60% (Operator), GAIL 10% and KOGAS 10%.
The block A-1 extends over an area of about 3885 sq. km. off Myanmar's
Rakhine Coast, close to Bangladesh. The block is about 75 - 100
kms from the shore and has a water depth of less than 50m in NE
and up to 1000m in SW. First well,shwe#1, drilled in the block has
resulted in gas discovery of 4-6 TCF in January 2004.
Exploration Plan
The exploration phase is for 5 1/2 years starting from October 2000.
The consortium is planning to appraise the shew gas discovery through
3D seismic and appraisal wells. Consortium also plans to explore
other prospects in the block through 3D seismic and drilling.
