|ONGC led Safety issues deliberations at Conference on Chemical (Industrial) Disaster Management|

Conference on Chemical (Industrial) Disaster Management held from Feb 06-08, 2012 at Hotel Trident, Mumbai was organized by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India, Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health, Government of Maharashtra and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
During Technical Session II on Safety Issues in Hydrocarbons, ONGC speakers shared valued inputs. Sh. P.K.Bhowmick, Executive Director, WOB shared Safety issues concerning Shale Gas exploration. The in-depth analysis was presented including safety issues associated with the same. Sh.Ashok Deshpande, CE, presented a Case Study on 1974 Flixborough Disaster, UK.
Early in session Sh Hirak Dutta, Executive Director, OISD addressed gathering on Safety in O&G sector. Sh.Ratan Watal, Secretary, Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) chaired the Session.
The conference provided a platform for exchange of information and technical know-how to the Indian chemical, petroleum, petroleum products, natural gas and exploration/production industry. Discussions were focused on ways to reduce on-site accidents as well as to manage oil spills to minimize their effects on environment.
