Mr. Murli Deora Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum & Gas visited Sudan on 24th & 25th January 2010 along with high level delegation consisting of Jt. Secretary MOP&NG and CEO's of ONGC, IOC, GAIL, OIL, OVL, Director(E) ,OVL and other officials from Ministry and OVL.

During the visit, Delegation led by Hon'ble Minister held meeting with HE EL Zubair Ahmed Hassan Minister of Mining and Energy, Govt. of Sudan on 25th January 2010. At the outset Hon'ble Minister of Energy & Mining, Govt. of Sudan (GOS), extended warm welcome to the Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India (GOI), Indian Ambassador to Sudan, visiting CEO's of Oil and Gas companies from India and other guests. Hon'ble Minister, GOS mentioned that India and Sudan have historic ties and quoted examples of many customs which Sudanese people have imbibed from Indians. HE further emphasized that they are looking forward for more training in oil Sector, IT and WSS. He appreciated contribution made by ONGCIAN's in oil sector of Sudan.

In response Hon'ble Mr. Murli Deora replied that he is very happy to be in Sudan. He expressed his gratitude towards the gracious hospitality, affection and warmth extended to him and his delegation during the visit. He mentioned that the relations between India and Sudan go back to historic times and both the countries enjoy historical and friendly relationship. He expressed his desire to take the relationship between the two countries further into many other spheres of activities, especially in hydrocarbon sector. He stated that the presence of CEOs of Indian companies at the meeting showed Indian commitment to strengthen cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons though ONGC/OVL,IOC and OIL are already contributing in the Oil & Gas Sector of Sudan.Other National Oil Companies like GAIL would also like to explore and commence their activities in Sudan.

After the meeting with HE Minister of Mining and Energy, the delegation paid visit to HE Mr. Ali Osman Taha Vice President of Govt. of Sudan.
During the visit Nile Cruise was also organized wherein all the ONGCIAN's present in Khartoum accompanied the delegation.
On 25th January Hon'ble Minister along with delegation visited the ONGC Residential complex and met all the Expats and National staff and appreciated the contribution made by each one in their respective areas for the growth of the Company. He was very appreciative on the upkeep of the complex and sports facilities.
On Occasion of the Visit of Hon'ble Minister of MOP&NG, Mr. R.S Sharma , Chairman ONGC Group of companies and Mr. R.S.Butola MD, OVL announced as a token of appreciation, 15 days Salary as incentive for the National staff.
