Mr. Luis Bento, President of IFTDO, handed over the Badge-of-Office to ONGC's C&MD Mr. Subir Raha at the impressive closing function of the 32nd IFTDO World Conference on May 30, 2003 at Lisbon, Portugal.
Founded in Switzerland in 1972, the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO) is the only world–wide network committed to identify, develop, and transfer knowledge, skills and technology to enhance personal and organisational growth, human performance, productivity and sustainable development.

IFTDO is a non– profit making, UK-registered charity with over 100 member organisations representing the views of more than 100,000 Training and HRD specialists world-wide. It is composed of full members who are usually professional bodies within countries such as Institutes, Associations, Societies of Training and Development, Personnel Management, HRD and Associate Members such as Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges, Commercial Institutes, Consultancy Practices, Multi–National Corporations and companies.
The 33rd World IFTDO Conference and Exhibition will be hosted by the Indian Society of Training and Development (ISTD), a founder member of IFTDO, in New Delhi from Nov 22–25, 2004. The theme of the conference is “Value Creation and Human Development – The Emerging Dimensions”.
Mr. K C Pant, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission is the Chairman of the Advisory Board and also Patron of the Conference.
An Indian Pavilion was set up by the ISTD at Lisbon, Portugal to promote the 33rd World Conference and Exhibition in New Delhi. The exhibition was well received and the response of IFTDO delegates was encouraging.
